Scalp Reductions
Hair Replacement/Transplants for Men and Women

This patient has had grafting done 20 years ago. If you look closely you will see he has had large plug-type grafts placed into the top of his scalp. They grow thick dense hair, which can be combed over quite well and actually help camouflage nicely but when you look close, or you were to cut his hair short, they are very unnatural in appearance and have the appearance of a hairbrush-type look. In order to treat this patient we did three scalp reductions on separate days.
Hair Transplants This essentially is a procedure where we remove the bald spots and make them smaller, bring the thick dense hair from the sides closer to the top. We can't do this in one procedure since the scalp does not stretch more than 2-3 cm. Every six weeks or so we can repeat the procedure and take another 2-3 cm of scalp out. Once the scalp has been reduced the final area can be grafted more naturally with grafts.
Hair Transplants This picture shows the same patient as he came in our office the first day with his hair combed over.
Hair Transplants Now, after three scalp reductions and after a small grafting session with just enough hair to help camouflage, you can see that he has a much more natural appearance than the previous grafts he had 20 yeas ago. While we don't get the same density we do get a very natural appearance.

As you can see, he has found a way to deal with hiding his thinning hair. This is the same patient before his surgery.
Hair Transplants This patient now shows you how his comb-over look appears following the grafting and scalp reductions. It gives a much more healthy appearance to his hairstyle even with the comb-over look.
